Barletta
Nudge Exhibition, Apulia, Italy
This is a proposal for Porto di Barletta and the adaptive reuse of abandoned industrial elements along the coastline to reconnect the city and the sea. This connection has been physically severed due to accumulating debris, residual urban voids, industrial and maritime infrastructure, and underused parking lots. This proposal expands upon the "third landscape" born inside and around large unused industrial containers. Taking cues from Rossi's Teatro del Mondo and the photography of Luigi Ghirri, we propose a celebration of light infrastructure - a circular pedestrian walkway elevated above the water level with publically accessible programmatic volumes such as a movie theatre, a floating pool and platforms for the public.
